Aloo Chaat is the story of Nikhil (Aftab Shivdasani) who returns to his punjabi household in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi from America after completing his education. His family consists of his orthodox father Purushottam (Kulbhushan Kharbanda), his grandmother Beeji (Dolly Ahluwalia) who suspects him to be a homo, his confused mother Seeto (Meenakshi Sethi) and an always suspecting uncle Chhadami Mama (Sanjay Mishra). Nikhil refuses to marry any girl his parents show him which has them worried about their son's attitude. Nikhil on the other hand loves a Muslim girl living in America Aamna (Aamna Sharif).
